Data: 1994ko irailak The translation of metaphors - Fred Van Besien, Katja PelsmaekersSummary
The author maintains that the theory of translation has not paid sufficient attention to the various functions of the metaphor according to the various types of language, as it is a means which cannot be limited to its literary use, as it can only be considered a comparison. The present article shows that a metaphor has several functions apart from literary aspects, and after a brief review of the treatment language theories have dispensed to the metaphor, it states that it may also have certain functions which are not exclusively decorative, for instance, in scientific texts. From this point of view, the study of the various functions of the metaphor in scientific texts, as in various other types of language, may be of considerable importance for translation strategy. |
