The didactics of translation, today - Xabier Mendiguren Bereziartu

Summary

This article advances a few considerations on translation didactics derived from the innovations made at the seminar entitled «Approach to translation bibliography and didactics», directed by the author within the Masters' Course in Translation in the University of Deusto; contributions on the matter from such prestigious translation experts as E. Zierer, Snell-Hornby, Christine Nord and Hugh Keith are also taken into account. The article's conclusion is that each school or training centre must be conscious of its origins and purposes within the social and linguistic context in which it is maintained, without slipping into mimicry or servile copying of extraneous models.
