Theatrical Works on the Web in Basque

The Basque translations of a number of theatrical works can now be read on the web thanks to the electronic publication by Armiarma of previous issues of the journal Antzerti [Theater]. Antzerti was published at two different times (1932-1936 and 1982-1985) and is an invaluable historical resource both of Basque theater and of the translation of theatrical works

Fernando Rey, winner of Euskadi award

«The Song of the Crickets» by Edorta Jimenez translated into Spanish

Edorta Jimenez (born in Mundaka, 1953) announces the publication of El canto de los grillos, the translation into Spanish of his novel, Kilkerren hotsak (The Song of the Crickets), which was published by Susa in 2003. The translation, by Bego Montorio, was published by Ttartalo. The work will also be published soon in German, by the publishing house Pahl-Rugenstein.

This year’s Independent Foreign Fiction Prize awarded to Agualusa and Hahn

The Angolan writer José Eduardo Agualusa and his translator into English Daniel Hahn have won this year’s Independent Foreign Fiction Prize for The Book of Chameleons. The prize, which is given by the British newspaper The Independent and supported by Arts Council England, is awarded annually to the best work of fiction translated into English and is unique in that the monetary award is divided equally between the author and the translator.
